METSA

Metsäliitto Cooperative, the parent company of Metsä Group, has its roots deep in the cooperative movement, which reached Finland in the early twentieth century. They consist of five business areas that promote the use of renewable products and develop alternatives to fossil-based materials.

KERTO LVL

KERTO LVL

Kerto® LVL is structural laminated veneer lumber used in all types of construction projects, from new buildings to renovation and repair. Kerto LVL combines excellent technical performance with ease of use. Its essential qualities include strength and rigidity, dimensional stability and light weight.

Kerto LVL is produced from 3 mm thick rotary-peeled strength graded softwood veneers. The veneers are bonded with weather- and boil-resistant phenol formaldehyde adhesive to form a continuous billet. The billet is cut to length and sawn into LVL beams, planks or panels according to customer´s requirements.

Further processing
Kerto LVL products can be further processed according to customer requirements. Further processing is an essential part of customer service and supply chain. It saves time and minimizes waste on building site or in industrial processes.
  • Sanding: optical or calibrated
  • Edge profiling, e.g, tongue and groove
  • Special cutting: both straight and tapered shapes
  • CNC machining
  • Multiple gluing (Kerto GLVL)
  • Surface treatments
Kerto Acoustic Fire Door Blanks

Kerto Acoustic Fire Door Blanks

The Kerto acoustic fire door blanks are manufactured from premium Nordic Spruce. The Kerto LVL Q-panel used for the door blanks is a cross-bonded laminated veneer lumber (LVL) produced from rotary-peeled 3 mm graded softwood veneers, which are then glued together using EN 636-3 glue (for use in exterior conditions). Individual veneer joints are scarfed and staggered. This structure improves the lateral bending strength and stiffness of the panel, thus increasing the shear strength. With cross-bonded veneers, there is an essential reduction in moisture dependent variations across the width of the panel. The result is an engineered wood product which delivers strength and dimensional stability that does not warp or twist, ideally suited to door blank applications.

Key Benefits
  • Stability and predictability
  • Resistance to warp, twist and bow (even after machining)
  • Strength
  • Excellent thermal performance/properties
  • Significantly lighter in weight than other door blanks on the market (e.g. Kerto LVL L-panel 450 kg/m³)
  • More efficient for general handling and lighter transportation – maximising loads
  • Easy to machine (machines like regular softwood; no extra wear and tear on tooling; can be routered, edged, veneered and laminated without issue)
  • Can be supplied calibration sanded, optical sanded, or unsanded
  • Special sizes/specifications available to order
  • PEFC Certified - a full chain of custody
